Damen Jackson | Brand, Marketing & Design Agency | Assistant Production Designer

Overview

Damen Jackson, a fast-growing branding, marketing and design agency in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood, is retooling our team structure and we’ve created a new hybrid role.  The title is Assistant Production Designer, and while that is a big part of the job, you will also be responsible for daily project management and traffic within the agency. And above all else, you’ll be the person at Damen Jackson most responsible for keeping the trains running on time. Responsibilities: Production Design

  • Assist current DJ account managers with performing their tasks and duties

  • Assist Production Manager with assignments and organization of client requests

  • Assist Design Team with production-related tasks, including artwork edits, project rollouts, and file management on the company server

  • Prepare final artwork for release to printers

  • Work collaboratively with account and design teams to facilitate completion of projects in a timely and acceptable manner

  • Simultaneously manage multiple project needs and support account team requests

Responsibilities: Project Management (Traffic)

  • Assist current DJ account managers through daily project management, timeline development and tasking assignments to the design team

  • Learn and become proficient in FunctionPoint, our internal project management software

  • Maintain a detailed and updated project pipeline schedule

  • Preparation for and participation in daily stand-up production meetings

Role Requirements:

  • Self starter and team player mentality 

  • Outstanding organizational and communication skills; extreme attention to detail necessary

  • Knowledge and working experience with the Adobe suite of graphic software (primarily Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop)

  • Calm, unflappable personality and emotional maturity is a must

  • Vendor interaction and quote procurement

What DJ is Looking For:

  • Client services experience, 3+ years

  • Someone who can establish, organize and manage project plans, timelines, and schedules

  • Manage workflow between cross-functional (strategic, creative and design) teams, adapting to changing daily requirements

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills leveraging knowledge of services, processes, tools, technology and collaboration with leaders and team members

  • Quick and thoughtful in stressful circumstances

Preferred:

  • Experience with project management software (FunctionPoint, SmartSheets, GANTT Charts)

  • Design or creative agency background

  • Experience in project management

  • Graphic arts education
