OTHER WAYS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Turn it Off - Hit the switch in in your office or meeting room when lighting is not needed or when exiting the space. Go energy efficient by replacing the bulbs in your space with energy efficient equivalents. Turn off electrical equiptment before you go.
Go Paperless - Utilize electronic formats instead of physical print outs. Print smart. Be mindful of the space on your page; can you squeeze a line up or extend a margin to print one less page? Print to the black & white / copier when possible. Reuse and then recycle paper products
Lighten Your Commute - Rethink your route. Carpool with people who are going your direction. Consider public transportation. Bike or walk to saves money AND burn extra calories!
Buy Smart - Be mindful of what you buy; where is it from, what is it made of, how is it packaged, what does it take to produce. Also, buying in bulk usually saves on cost and on unnecessary packaging.
Volunteer - We are thinking of ways that Damen Jackson can volunteer efforts to make Chicago a greener community. If anyone has ideas on volunteer opportunities, or a Damen Jackson volunteer day, please email greenteam@damenjackson.com
What We've Done - Added cardboard / paper recycling bins, implemented blue bag recycling program, replaced light bulbs with energy efficient, started a green team, have a "green" bulletin board, have a scrap paper bin for reuse, etc.
